Well...According to WNNX 99.7 in Atlanta, Lars has basically said that Jaymz
woke up on Friday morning and basically couldn't move. They took him to a
local hospital for MRI's and noticed that a few disks in his lower back have
slipped out of place and the severity is unknown at the time...
As for the show, Kirk, Lars and Jason came out and explained the situation
and said that they will be playing again in Atlanta on August 4th to make up
for Jaymz's abscence. They came out about 30-45 minutes later in their usual
attire and began the show. The show was filled with a lot of guest apperances
and I hope that I can remember all. If you post this and you get something
that says some are wrong, then my bad...
Set List
Creeping Death (With lead guitarist of Kid Rock playing rhythm sung by Jason)
For Whom The Bell Tolls (With Joe C of Kid Rock and lead guitarist of Kid Rock, sung by Jason)
Seek And Destroy (Sung by Jason with Joe C)
There was a break to figure out what to do, then KoRn came on and played the
Cheech And Chong theme with, I think the drummer was singing and Jonathan
Davis on drums...They also played another song, but I don't remember the name
because I don't listen to KoRn...
Metallica comes back out and plays "Nothing Else Matters" with Kid Rock
singing with Head from KoRn help play the solo
Then they play "Sad But True". Kid Rock in the middle tries mixing "American Badass" with it but failed, Lars stops near the end of the song and tells him that they want to play it. Then Jason, Lars, Kirk, Kid Rock and the rhythm guitarist of Kid Rock plays with them. Great drum work from Lars...
Lars, Jason and Kirk regroup and figure out what to play. Mean while, Kid
Rock brings his band out and they play Creedence Clearwater Revival Classic
"Fortunate Son"...They then play "Somebody's Gotta Feel This" which included
"Fist Of Rage" within.
The three come back out and then play "Fuel" with great DJ work by Kid Rock.
He did a great job with the turntables mixing in with Fuel. Again, they
regroup to figure out what they are going to play.
Then, Kid Rock comes out and plays "Turn The Page" and does a very good job on it.
Lars, Jason and Kirk come back out and say that guitarist of System Of A
Down, Dave, knows all the old Metallica stuff on rhythm. They then try to
bring a fan on stage to sing "Master Of Puppets" but he screwed it up
severely, coming in to early. They start over and play "Masterterium" with
Jason singing.
To end the night, they play "Enter Sandman" with basically
every member from KoRn, Kid Rock, and System was out there while Jason singed.
Overall, it was a very damned good concert! It was so great that Metallica
still came out and played nearly a two hour set with everyone and are still
coming back August 4th. It was probably the best concert I've been to, and
I've been to about 50-60 (Festivals included). It was an amazing show. It was
so funny to hear Metallica play one song, then regroup to figure out what to
play next. You could tell that they were discussing who knows what. They
would figure it out, come out and play...Do the same thing over. Jaymz will
be so proud of the job everyone did. I am praying to God that some how I hear
it again, because it was phenomonal, and everyone needs to hear it because it
will probably be the only time you hear Kid Rock and Jason and others singing
Metallica songs while Jason, Lars and Kirk played. I applaud them for not
cancelling the show and I have even a much higher respect for them then I had
before. They could of just said "Sorry, but we'll see you in August". They
didn't though, they came out and worked their ass off to put a good show, and
they put together a great show, even if it was on the fly...
I am hoping that Jaymz is okay though. Lars said "This is a reoccuring back
injury" he also said that "For the twenty years I have known him, I have
never seen him like this". He also noted "This injury has occured several
times before, but not during a tour".
He did not mention surgery, but he said it's to early to tell. I am hoping
this isn't a serious injury to cancel the entire tour though. Everyone needs
to see to this great show!
