Vintage Marshall amp
Bass: Crank it all the way up
Mids: Turn down to 0 or 1 at most
PRESENCE: Set around 4 to keep some edge
TREBLE: About 7
Use metal distortion at around 80-90% drive to get crunch but not go
into "white noise".
short: max. bass, max. treble, low treble
Unless Mesa Boogies (which Metallica uses) have very little low bottom end the
bass can't be that high.
So it was tested to get a Metallica-similar sound with the amplification sets
above with an electric guitar fitted with PAF-PRO pickups (although Metallica
uses EMG-81) and a Marshall 1987X 50 Watt Plexi Amp.
